Volunteer At CRIS Radio
There are many ways you can help CRIS fulfill its mission. CRIS provides programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so we typically have program reader opportunities available, either at our broadcast center in Windsor or at one of our regional satellite studios, which are located in Danbury, Norwich, Trumbull, and West Haven.
Program readers generally volunteer one day a week for 60 to 90 minutes. Volunteers of our satellite studios read their programs live, either in the morning beginning at 8 a.m. or in the evening beginning at 6 p.m. Volunteers may pre-record programs at our broadcast center in Windsor.
CRIS broadcasts can be heard statewide via programs that originate from five studios located in Danbury, Trumbull, West Haven, Norwich and Windsor.
CRIS volunteers read a wide variety of articles published in state newspapers, including the Hartford Courant, New Haven Register, Herald of New Britain, The Day of New London, Manchester Journal Inquirer, the Danbury News Times, Connecticut Post, Waterbury Republican American, Norwalk Hour, and Stamford Advocate. In addition, volunteers also read from numerous national newspaper and magazines, including the New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Money, AARP, Connecticut Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Diabetes Self Management, Harper’s, The Week, Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News & World Report.
In addition to program readers, there are other volunteer opportunities available at our broadcast center in Windsor. They include: edit audio prior to broadcast; operate the control board for live broadcasts; help with mailings and general office duties; serve on the CRIS Board of Directors; assist with outreach by serving on the CRIS Speakers Bureau; solicit sponsorships for CRIS fundraising events; and assist with CRIS events, such as the CRIS Radio Annual Golf Classic or our new "Dining and Dancing In the Dark," to be held in 2011.
When volunteer opportunities become available, applicants will be contacted for an interview.
